NMU Hockey at Michigan - CCHA Playoffs
The Northern Michigan University hockey team opens postseason play this weekend (March 8-10) with a best-of-three Central Collegiate Hockey Association First Round series at the University of Michigan. The Wildcats are the No. 10 seed and the Wolverines are the seven seed. The puck drops at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) from Yost Ice Arena.

NMU finished the regular season 15-17-4 overall and 9-15-4-1 in the CCHA. Michigan finished 13-18-3 overall in the regular season and 10-15-3 in the CCHA. The Wolverines are undefeated in their last four games.
The two teams met on Nov. 2-3 at the Berry Events Center and tied 4-4 on Friday with UM earning the extra CCHA point with a 1-0 shootout win. NMU picked up its first CCHA on Saturday, 4-3. Northern is 20-37-7 all-time against the Wolverines and 11-16-2 in Ann Arbor, dating back to 1981. The two teams have never met in the CCHA First Round. NMU is 0-8 against UM in the postseason, including 0-7 in CCHA Tournament games. The last time the two teams met in the postseason was March 20, 2010 in the CCHA Championship game in Detroit. UM won 2-1 at Joe Louis Arena. The last time the two teams played in the postseason in Ann Arbor was March 9-10, 2007. UM swept NMU in the CCHA Second Round series.
