The Business Profession Program

Business PassportStudents are facing a very competitive labor environment upon graduation. The NMU College of Business’ Business Profession Program is a new program aimed at preparing business students to be more competitive upon graduation in what is currently the most competitive workforce in recent history.

This program prepares students for the competitive job market by exposing them to practical skills, like resume building and time management, and through networking opportunities, like career fairs and alumni events. The goal is to differentiate NMU College of Business students in the labor market as they transition from college to career.

In order to track progress, students who sign up for The Business Profession Program will be issued a “Passport” and as they attend events, they will collect stamps.  This passport will provide students benefits, such as:

  • Reserved seating at Business Profession Program events
  • Access to exclusive networking events
  • Unique opportunities to meet with the Dean of the College of Business staff

Students who have participated in similar programs at other institutions have reported a marked increase in opportunities after graduation due to networking with professionals in their area of interest.  They have also reported feeling better prepared and more confident in their knowledge of business and of how to interact with business professionals.
