Mahaney is President and founder of The Veridea Group LLC, a real estate development and hotel management firm based in Marquette with projects across Michigan and the Intermountain states. His professional career has included work in public accounting, investment management, and corporate banking, along with the start-up and development of multiple business ventures. He currently serves on the board of directors for Mackinac Financial Corporation/mBank, and the advisory board for the Gerstacker Institute at Albion College.
Mahaney has a long record of community service. He is past chairman and board member of the Michigan Catholic Conference’s statewide Diocesan pension plans, past chairman of the Diocese of Marquette School Board, and is a founding member and past president of the Noquemanon Trail Network. He has received professional licenses as a certified public accountant, certified financial planner, and real estate broker. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Albion College and a master’s degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Mahaney, of Marquette, was appointed to the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees by Governor Rick Snyder on Monday, December 8, 2014, for a term beginning January 1, 2015 and continuing until December 31, 2022. He replaced Mr. Gilbert L. Ziegler whose term expired December 31, 2014.
