Alan T. Ackerman, of Bloomfield Hills, is the managing partner of Troy, Michigan-based Ackerman & Ackerman P.C. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968 and a Masters of Labor and Industrial Relations degree in 1971 from Michigan State University. In 1972 he received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
Since entering private practice more than 25 years ago, Mr. Ackerman has served as counsel in hundreds of condemnation trials and appeals before judges of the Michigan and Federal trial and appellate courts. Since 1975 he has concentrated his practice on eminent domain cases in courts throughout the United States.
A nationally recognized leader in his field of legal practice, Mr. Ackerman has authored many articles on eminent domain proceedings. He has been a guest lecturer on eminent domain and real estate valuation issues for several important groups, including the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the Detroit Bar Association, the Michigan Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
For more than a decade, Mr. Ackerman has served as vice-chairman of chairman of the American Bar Association’s Real Property Section Condemnation Law Committee.
