Microbiology

Microbiology is a large field that encompasses the study of microbes and their interactions with other organisms. This includes both virology and bacteriology, as well as fungi in some cases. Microbiology is important to human health and medicine, veterinary medicine, agriculture and many other fields. Ongoing research in the department includes work on porcine viruses as well as plant-microbe interactions.

Students interested in this area might consider any of the Biology Department majors, especially Microbiology.
