Gries Hall

Gries HallGries Hall, a former NMU residence hall, now houses the Military Science, Criminal Justice, English, Sociology, Social Work and Psychology departments. It has a small lecture hall and a few classrooms.

The hall is connected to the University Center with a skywalk.

The Ada Vielmetti Health Center and Passages North literary journal are located on the ground floor of the building. The Upper Peninsula World War I Military Hall of Fame is located in the Military Science Department.

The facility is named for Walter Gries, who served as acting president of NMU in 1954 and was active in state education boards.
