Biographical Note
Dr. Jerome Roth received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1966. Roth served as a professor of Chemistry at Northern Michigan University from 1968 until 1997. He also served as head of the Department of Chemistry from 1994 until his retirement. Roth was very instrumental in the establishment of the American Association of University Professors as the collective bargaining agent for the faculty at Northern Michigan University. He is considered to be one of the founders of the NMU faculty union.
Scope and Contents Note
This collection documents the official and academic work of Dr. Jerome Roth. The bulk of the collection consists of class notes, syllabi, and exam records. The collection also includes AAUP (American Association of University Professors) related correspondence and various committee records such as faculty grants, Sub-committee on Graduate Education in the 1990s, Taskforce on Liberal Education, and Academic Senate at Northern Michigan University. The collection covers the period of time between 1968 to 1996.
