Historical Note
The Marquette Choral Society was founded in 1971. Affiliated with Northern Michigan University, the society is a mixed chorus composed of members of the community of Marquette, Michigan and its surrounding area and of students at NMU. The society performs two major concerts per year, and has commissioned and given world premieres for four new pieces of choral literature since its founding.

Scope and Contents note
This collection contains the records of the Marquette Choral Society. Included in the records are two large scrapbooks which chronicle major events, such as concerts, awards, and articles about the choral society, by including programs, newspaper clippings and photographs. Other posters promoting concerts are located in another oversize folder. A box of administrative and miscellaneous materials completes the collection, which contains materials from 1971-2009.
