Historical note
The Marquette Federation of Women's Clubs formed in 1926 and purchased a house on the corner of Front and Ridge Streets in Marquette, Michigan as their club house. The club serves as an umbrella organization for numerous women's groups in the Marquette area.
Scope and Contents Note
This collection includes correspondence, financial reports, activity reports, meeting minutes, and publications of the Marquette Federation of Women's Clubs from 1920 through 2007. The bulk of these records are from the 1980s and 1990s. A later accession includes: a copy of 1920 Articles of Association; early records and reports (1925-1947); correspondence (1925-27; 1942); photographs prior to renovation; photographs circa 1991-93; programs and flyers; news clippings (1951-1999); other agreements; financial records (1966-1977); Board Meeting minutes (1969-1978); board officers (incomplete 1979-1995); caretaker logs (1979-1996); club forms and membership lists (1972-1978). Twelve scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, some correspondence, and photographs, from 1925-1959. There are gaps in the records for the time between April 1933-March 1935 and October 1937-April 1941. Highlights of this collection include: the 1925 by-laws and constitution; an original letter dated 7/16/1925; and thirteen Marquette Centennial songs (1949).
