Services and Fees


The Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives is open to the public. The staff is available to assist individuals, groups, university faculty, staff and students with research, workshops, and file management.

The Michigan Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA") provides public access to certain public records of public bodies. The Board of Control of Northern Michigan University has established the necessary procedures and guidelines concerning fees, processing requests for records, and administration of the FOIA. To review FOIA procedures and guidelines, follow this link. This does not affect manuscript series and non-university related records.

The Archives can only accept payment in the form of cash or check.

If a patron is out of the country, payment for services can be made via by selecting "Northern Michigan University".

If copying takes longer than 30 minutes, there will be an additional $8 charge for each extra 30 minutes spent copying.

*Note: we cannot digitize images and documents larger than 18.5" x 26.5" in-house. Pricing will depend on the vendor.
