A magnificent day here on the campus as September moves in. With temps expected to be in the 80's today, the long range forecast shows the thermometer dropping. The hint of red and orange colors in the leaves keeps fall within sight.
NMU has received a generous gift from the estate of Dr. John and Aili Imarisio. Aili (Leppanen) Imarisio graduated from NMU in 1941 with a BS in Secondary Education. She was born in Palmer, MI in 1916 and spent her formative years in the Upper Peninsula. In addition to receiving her degree from NMU she also studied at Morehead State and Miami of Ohio. After graduation, Aili taught for a while in the Chicago area. She then established a career with the American Red Cross Overseas group serving in Japan, and subsequently, in Germany and New York. While in New York she met the love of her life, Dr. John Imarisio. They were married in 1955.
Aili was a member of the NMU Alumni Association for 18 years. She and her husband attended many alumni functions in the Chicago area.
We are proud and deeply grateful that both Aili and her husband, John, included NMU in their estate planning and honored us with this bequest. The gift has been designated for the College of Business.Top of Page

As students start classes, this year's Fall Fest activities were a great success. Moving from the academic mall to the lawn outside of the University Center, due to the new Jamrich construction, certainly did not decrease any excitement. The Alumni Association in conjunction with Wildcats for Life hosted a booth where students, alumni and community members could learn about both groups and win some great prizes as well.
Thanks to all of you who have visited the Alumni Office while on campus. Whenever you’re in town, please drop by 607 Cohodas Hall to say hello. (You don’t have to be visiting. For those of you who live in Marquette, we want to see you too! Please stop in.) If you can’t get to campus because you’re off exploring the world, be sure to send us a photo of you wearing your favorite Wildcat gear so we can share it with other alumni.
