Campus Starbucks, Lower Level of Learning Resource Center

Get your caffeine fix and catch up on the latest campus news by reading the North Wind at the Campus Starbucks and lounge.  Open until 3 p.m.

8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Campus Bookstore, University Center

Head to the Campus Bookstore to get all of your NMU apparel and gifts, and check out their Homecoming Sale!  You can also see inventory online.

9 a.m.

NMU Golf Course, 125 Chocolay Downs Drive

Well known for its naturally northern location just off the beautiful shores of Lake Superior, this par 72 course is a picturesque, championship-designed course contains water hazards, rolling terrain and beautiful wooded areas.  The golf course, made possible by a generous gift from Joe and Patsie Gibbs, also serves as an outdoor classroom for dozens of NMU students and a funding generator for NMU scholarships.  Contact the Golf Course for more information and tee times.

Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center, 105 Cohodas Hall

See the "Scattered to the Winds: the Vanished Community of Cable's Bay and Beaver Island" exhibition, created by NMU Anthropology students.  The exhibit, which includes historical accounts and artifacts on loan from the Beaver Island Historical Society, Marquette Regional History Center and the State of Michigan, is made possible by a generous grant from the Michigan Humanities Council.  Admission is free to the public.

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. 

DeVos Art Museum, Located on the corner of Tracy & 7th Street on Campus

Check out the DeVos Art Museum, which showcases student and faculty work as well as rotating exhibitions of national artists and a permanent art collection.  Learn about current events and the Andrew Ranville: No Island is a Man exhibition here.

5:30 p.m.

Homecoming Parade, Third Street

Head to Third Street for this NMU tradition!

6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

All Alumni Reception, Landmark Inn

Mix and mingle with alumni, faculty and staff members.  Complimentary appetizers and cash bar.

U.P. Gumbo, Ore Dock Brewing Company

Part of the Upper Peninsula Folklife Festival, the Funky Folk Dance continues on Friday, September 21 with the Funky Folk Dance featuring U.P. Gumbo.   The project is funded in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.  Those ages 21 and up are invited to this free event.

Start times vary Lake Superior Shore Run

The Alumni Association is a proud sponsor of the Lake Superior Shore Run is a trail half marathon, 5K and 1K youth run.  Now in its 18th year, the event begins at Little Presque Isle.  Learn more and register here.

Downtown Marquette Farmers Market, Marquette Commons, 112 South Third

Over 40 vendors offering fresh, local grown foods and handmade artisan products are at this off-campus community event, which concludes at 2 p.m.

Cheer on NMU women's soccer as they face Michigan Tech!

 
11:30 – 1:30 p.m.

NMU Game Day, Third Street between Kaye and Magnetic Streets

Join NMU and the Marquette Community for a special game day block party and fun for the whole family!  Featuring food from Togo’s, Stucko’s, Border Grill and the Casa Calabria, face-painting and arcade games for children, a photo and video booth, performances by the student stepping competition winners, the NMU Dance Team, the NMU Marching Band, Wildcat Willy and more!  If you haven’t gotten your Homecoming t-shirt or football game ticket, you can buy them at NMU Game Day.

Join alumni, faculty, staff, students, community members and Wildcat fans for the 5th Quarter!  Featuring Jim and Ray, followed by a DJ and complimentary appetizers.
