Staying Wild: Wildcats for Life
Wildcats for Life is a new student organization here on campus that plans programs and events that foster a relationship between NMU students and alumni, and celebrates the pride we all have as NMU Wildcats. Members of Wildcats for Life believe meeting and building connections with alumni give students the opportunity to excel during school and after graduation.

The kickoff to the Wildcats for Life “How I became____ with my NMU degree” series features NMU Graduate and NMU President David Haynes. All alumni are invited to join with students to hear about President Haynes’ experience as an NMU student, how he got into the field of higher education and public affairs, and how his career path led him to become President of NMU.
Don’t End Up Living in Your Parents’ Basement A Speed Networking Event

6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Superior and Ontario Rooms, University Center
This speed networking event is an opportunity for NMU students to network with alumni and hear more about individual career paths, words of wisdom and advice, as well as practice their networking skills. The Alumni office is assisting Wildcats for Life in identifying alumni who would like to come back to campus and be a part of this event. Homecoming 2012 – September 21-22
Homecoming 2012 kicks off one week from today! Friday includes the annual Homecoming Parade on Third Street, the All Alumni Receptions at the Landmark, followed by a Funky Folk Dance at Ore Dock Brewing Company featuring the band U.P. Gumbo.
Saturday morning take part in the Lake Superior Shore Run, visit the Marquette Farmer’s Market or watch the Annual NMU Alumni Association Homecoming Awards and Donor-Funded Scholarship Brunch online where Robert Wallenstein ’53 and Dr. Bill Bowerman ’91 will be honored for their achievements. NMU Game Day, a new event this year, features bounce houses, performances by the NMU Marching Band, Cheerleaders, Dance Team, Student Stepping Competition winners and special game commentary. Togo’s, Casa Calabria, Border Grill and Stucko’s will be there with food and Marquette’s Downtown Development Authority is sponsoring a beer tent. The fun begins at 11 a.m. Join the Marquette community in celebrating NMU Homecoming and get excited for the Wildcat vs. Ashland football game!
The fun continues at the Holiday Inn for the traditional 5th Quarter event. Featuring Jim & Ray and a DJ, catch up with old friends and meet new ones over free appetizers and a cash bar.

NMU is coming to Dickinson County on Tuesday, October 2 and Delta County on Tuesday, October 9. Alumni and friends are invited to join NMU President David Haynes and area alumni for socializing, cocktails and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Paul Lang and Athletic Director Forrest Karr will be in attendance as well.

Tony Williams '06 was able to capture aerial photos of students jumping off Black Rocks at Presque Isle this summer. Tony is proud to say, he himself finally built up the courage to jump off Black Rocks, twice!
