David is serving his nineteenth year in the Chicago Public Schools and his eleventh year as principal at Hanson Park Elementary School. Prior to becoming a successful urban school administrator, David taught music education and the band for 29 years in Michigan, Colorado, and Illinois. A two-time graduate, David holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education. David works closely with NMU’s School of Education by conducting mock interviews for current student teachers. He is involved in the Chicago community where he served as the president of Chicago Reading is Fundamental Literacy Organization. He has also served as a new principal mentor and assisted with selecting aspiring new principal candidates. During his time at NMU, David played in the marching band, concert band, jazz band, brass choir, and orchestra.
