Universities do two main things: teach existing knowledge to students and create new knowledge through research.
Researchers at NMU are part of the nation’s innovation system. Every day, faculty, staff and students are finding answers to tough questions and discovering ways to make life better here in Michigan and around the world.
One of the best things about NMU is undergraduate students have a chance to work with full-time faculty researching important problems like tagging brain tumor DNA to come up with new treatment options and tracking exactly where the elusive coaster brook trout goes between hatching and spawning.
