NMU’s Physical Education and Instruction Facility and Indoor Rock Climbing Wall

Location:    Physical Education and Instruction Facility, located between the Superior Dome
                    and the Berry Events Center  
Time:           Friday and Saturday all day and Sunday 11:00 a.m. -11:00 p.m.
Price:          Free

More commonly called the “PEIF” (rhymes with “beef”), this facility offers an indoor climbing wall, weight room, cardiovascular area, basketball courts, racquetball courts, swimming pool, and dance studios.   You can use the facility for free anytime on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.   Just check in at the information desk and let the worker know you’re visiting for Wildcat Weekend.  


DeVos Art Museum

Location:    DeVos Art Museum, located in NMU's Art and Design Building
Time:           Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Price:          Free

The DeVos Art Museum has a permanent collection of over 1,500 objects. Assembled over the past 30 years, the collection has grown to achieve an impressive breadth and depth of holdings. Explore 20th Century Illustration, Japanese Art & Artifacts and Native American Art & Artifacts. Current exhibits include the Rabbit Island Artist in Residence as well as works by Alexis Rockman's works: The Great Lakes Cycle.



Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center

Location:    In the Beaumier Alumni Welcome and U.P. Heritage Center, part of Gries Hall, corner of 7th St. and Lee Drive.
Time:           Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Fresh Coast Film Festival

Location:  Marquette Commons and multiple venues

The Fresh Coast Film Festival is the first of its kind: a documentary film festival celebrating the outdoor lifestyle, water-rich environment and resilient spirit of the Great Lakes and upper Midwest. The festival will gather the best in adventure cinema from around the world while creating a venue for, and building a culture of, Great Lakes storytelling.  Find details here.


Kardemimmit at the Arts Midwest Folkefest!

Location:  Reynolds Recital Hall, NMU Campus
Time:         Saturday, 7;30 p.m.

As a part of the Midwest Folkefest, the Finnish fok group, Karedemimmit, will be performing in Marquette. Kardemimmit are four strong, young women who play a rare gem: the Finnish national instrument kantele, an ancient stringed instrument with a silver sound. While playing 15- and 38-string kanteles, Kardemimmit sing mesmerizing harmonies in original compoistions that blend a moder approach with a deep foundation in Finnish, Eastern European, and Scandinavian traditions.

Marquette Regional History Museum

Location:  145 West Spring Street, Marquette
Time:         Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Price:        $7 adults; $3 students

The Marquette History Museum is the oldest Historical Society in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The museum features a collection that includes artifacts from the prehistoric copper culture through current times. Each year, visitors from all over the world come to use the Research Library and view the museum's exhibitions gallery.

Dead River Walkabout: Changing Waters

Learn about history, ecology, and environmental impact of the Dead River Basin in a walk along its shore with Alexis Rockman and local experts.

Northern Climate Network Panel Discussion

Film: The Hitman's Bodyguard

The world's top bodyguard gets a new client, a man who must testify at the International Court of Justice. They must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial on time.

NMU Orchestra and Choirs

The Department of Music will be presenting a selection of works performed by the NMU Arts Chorale, the NMU University Choir, the NMU Symphony Orchestra. Highlights include Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden by J.S. Bach, El Grillo by Josquin Des Presz, Unfinished Symphony by Franz Schubert, and Game of Thrones by Ramin Djawadi.
