Marcia Lovett -Assistant Director of Admissions, Chicago and Eastern Illinois
Hometown: Madison, Wis.
Professional/personal biography: I earned a bachelor of science degree in sociology/criminal justice from Edgewood College in 1997 and a master of science degree in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003. I have always held positions that enabled me to provide opportunity for others to improve their lives, especially in education. I joined the NMU staff in 2006.
Most memorable college experience: Probably the most memorable experience aside from friends, parties, etc.. would be the opportunity I had to be one of the commencement speakers at my graduation.
Favorite Marquette activity: Limited at this point, but probably getting the opportunity to work for NMU and knowing that I would be working with a great group of supportive people.
Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone entering college:
- You have the right to be here, so take advantage of each and every opportunity.
- Don’t be afraid to go and seek help! Professors and support services are there for you to ensure your success in college.
- Be open to new experiences. It’s the best preparation for the real world!
