Activate MyNMU

This will be the hub of your transfer process. Activating MyNMU doesn't mean you're coming to Northern, but it will give you access to more information and next steps.

Register for Orientation

Transfer students have a couple of options. Choose between a self-paced online orientation session that you can do on your own time, or the scheduled transfer session that happens before your semester start.

Housing and Residence Life is dedicated to student learning inside and outside of the classroom by creating unique communities for students to call home in the residence halls and on-campus apartments. Office staff, Resident Directors, Resident Advisers & Community Advisers work to make a difference in the lives of the students with whom they interact.

You're going to love it here. It's the perfect place to beNorthern!

Please check NMU's Housing and Residence Life website to see when registration will open for your incoming term.

“I decided to come to Northern because I loved the area. I also loved the idea of smaller class sizes so that I can meet with the professors and have them know me rather than being one of thousands in the bigger schools. I also like how close everything as in its an easy cycle to get to good hiking spots or downtown.”

Let Us Know How We Can Help

We have found that every student and family has different needs, so the steps listed below may vary for you in timing, order, or importance. No matter what your situation, please know your admissions counselor is here to listen and to help. Please contact your counselor if any questions arise.

If you are earning college credit prior to orientation, remember to request college transcripts and AP or IB exam scores sent to NMU. The earlier we receive these, the more helpful we can be in planning your first semester schedule and academic plan.
