Director's Note ~ updated December 12, 2020

Gerri DanielHello,

We have all heard and read it frequently: These are unprecedented times. Each of us is impacted by the current health crisis in varying ways – the way we connect with our loved ones, the way we learn, the way we work, the way we play. On behalf of the NMU Admissions Staff, I wish you well, and want to share information related to your NMU journey.

We have a reputation for being adaptable, innovative and caring at NMU. We take great care to handle applicants' information and documents following best practices and respecting confidentiality. We consider individual situations. We adjusted some practices in order to be flexible in assisting applicants to complete their files in order to receive admission decisions for Fall 2020. Many of our standard policies and procedures, such as having no application or enrollment deposit deadlines, were already very student-friendly.

"We have a reputation for being adaptable, innovative and caring at NMU."

We continue to make adjustments as we receive new information, so I encourage you to check NMU’s safe-on-campus site for updates.

High school students and recent graduates:

  • Our admission policy is test-blind/test-free - permanently.  We will not be requesting or utlizing SAT or ACT scores to make admissions decisions for any term.

  • We will work with grading policies high schools have implemented.

  • If you are a new applicant or if we need to receive your high school transcript now to complete your application, we can receive your high school transcript in these ways:

  1. Electronic -from Parchment/Docufide, eScrip-Safe, or other secure-server electronic transcript services your high school may use.

  2. Mailed -Admissions Office, Northern Michigan University, 1401 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.

  3. Faxed by a high school official to NMU Admissions at 906-227-1747. Faxed transcripts will be used for admission decisions, but a final transcript with graduation date must be received at NMU via options #1 or #2 above.

This may not cover all your questions, but please know our admissions counselors are here to assist you. We encourage and applaud your efforts to stay engaged in preparing for a successful college experience.

We will continue to keep in touch and invite you to do the same.

Best wishes,

Gerri Daniels
Executive Director of Admissions
