We invite you to visit our campus and explore the surrounding area. Some students and their families choose to make an individual visit, while others choose to attend our Wildcat Weekend Program or even a summer camp. Some students like to do everything. We welcome you whenever and however you choose to visit.
Option #1: Create an individualized itinerary through our Campus Visit Program, scheduled on a day most convenient for you.
Benefit: An individual visit gives you the opportunity to customize your visit to NMU. You can focus specifically on your intended major and interests. We will arrange individual appointments with professors and other staff members. This type of visit is typically best on a weekday. See information on our Campus Visit Program for the list of options that can be incorporated into your day.
Option #2: Join many prospective students and their families on one of our Wildcat Weekends, held once in the fall and once in the spring, with most activities occurring on a Saturday.
Benefit: Wildcat Weekend programming provides more of a general overview in a large group setting. Events include a brief welcome session, a student services information fair, a sample academic lecture/demonstration in selected majors, a campus tour and lunch. There are also optional activities offered during the weekend, such as a sporting event, lectures or cultural events, skiing/snowboarding, snowshoe hiking and rock climbing, to name just a few. See the information on our Wildcat Weekends for a complete list of activities and dates.
Other options for visiting campus:
Presidential Scholars Competition is an opportunity for high achieving high school seniors to compete for scholarships. Competitions are held in November.
Summer Camps for high school students focus on sports, culture, the environment and more.
However you decide to visit, we know you’ll discover that NMU is a unique place. You've got to experience it for yourself. We hope to see you on campus soon.
