Choose Your Campus Living

dormYour home at Northern Michigan University will be just that: Your home. Your space. Your place. The perfect expression of you — and your roommate.

Review

Learn about housing options at the Housing and Residence Life website. NMU offers 10 residence halls, each with a unique opportunity, and on-campus apartments for upper classmen. Whatever you choose, Northern will indeed be your home away from home.

Reserve

Reserve your room online through your MyNMU account and explore roommate matching options. Learn more about NMU's housing requirements at nmu.edu/housing/FAQ

If you want to live with someone you already know, just tell us and we can take care of it. If your preferences change over the coming months, no problem. Just return to the online residence hall application and change them.

Connect

Connect with your roommate and start to design your space. Check out the list and talk with your roommate before you move in to make sure you don't end up with two couches and no TV.

Your life at NMU won't include a room that feels lonely and cold. Instead, you'll find yourself in a vibrant place full of friends. You can start planning your room today with our interactive residence hall room.

Residence Hall Application

  • Reserve your residence hall room through your MyNMU Account and pay your $50 application fee.
  • Finalize your room reservation and pay your $200 advanced payment by June 1 through your MyNMU Account. (Once in the Touchnet system, click on eDeposit, select your term and select deposit payment: Residence Hall.)
  • Printable Form - Select this option to apply for an on-campus apartment (see if you qualify below). You can submit your deposit payment by check.
  • Other printable forms for housing are available, as well.

If you are over 21 or of junior class rank or higher, you may want to consider the convenience of living in an NMU on-campus apartment.
