AAUP NMU Chapter

University Wide Committees

The Master Agreement states that there will be faculty representation on committees dealing with issues of university-wide concerns.  The following committees require faculty representation.

The normal procedure followed for placing a faculty representative on a university-wide committee is as follows:

The AAUP Executive Committee is notified of vacancies. They call for volunteers from the active AAUP faculty. A list of volunteers is compiled and discussed at an Executive Committee meeting. For each vacancy, two names are chosen to be forwarded to the VPAA. The VPAA appoints a faculty member for each vacancy.  The VPAA's office will send a written notification to the faculty member with copies sent to the AAUP and the chair of the committee to which the faculty member has been appointed.  Note, the standard term length is three years.
