A very important career asset to develop during your collegiate career is a strong set of time management skills. Northern’s time management system is one of many tools on campus that can help you do that. To learn more about other time management training tools and resources, visit the Academic and Career Advisement Center (www.nmu.edu/acac).
To access the Northern time management tool, you will be asked to log in using your NMU user name and password (the same ones you use for accessing MyNMU). A log in is required because the calendar will populate your courses from student record.
Once you have logged in, you’ll want to open the calendar to your full screen so that you’ll have access to the instructions and time totals on the right hand side of the page. It’s an easy and comprehensive tool to use. Be sure to include all of the activities that make up your weekly schedule, including not only classes and study time, but also travel time, the amount of time you use for working out, student organization meetings, time for meals, and of course, relaxation and fun time with your family and friends.
Developing a time management plan each week is a great habit that will help you meet your goals and deadlines as a college student and as a professional when you enter your career field.
