Carey Hall Demo Process Begins

The demolition of Carey Hall began June 25 with initial site preparation and is slated for completion by Friday, Aug. 3. Working hours for the project are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Below is the remaining schedule, which is dependent on the weather:

Week 3 (in progress): Interior demolition work continues, including disconnecting interior electrical, water and steam service to the building. Exterior site work will include rerouting sewer systems on the south side of Carey Hall.

Weeks 4-5: Demolition of the facility begins and includes hauling construction debris off site. It is anticipated that this phase will produce the most noise.

Week 6: Complete building demolition and begin site restoration. The former building site will be restored to a grassy area.
