Jeff Mincheff (Public Safety and Police Services) was elected president of the Michigan Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators for 2012. MACLEA allows college and university law enforcement personnel to network through the following platforms: a listserv email group that shares information and questions; informational documents posted on the members-only section of the association's website; and a semiannual conference that covers issues ranging from the Clery Act to community policing. Northern hosted the
first two-day MACLEA conference in the U.P. last May.
Steven Hughes (Art and Design), has exhibited his work in three recent national juried shows. His
poster illustration Angel Rising (pictured) is part of the Second Annual
International Commitment to Excellence in Art and Sport: A Fine Art Competition
Exhibit. It is on display through Feb. 29 at the National Art Museum of Sport (NAMOS) at Indiana University-Purdue
University, Indianapolis. NAMOS was founded in 1959 and features one of the nation's largest
collections of fine art depicting sports.
Hughes' Her Name is Alice, a charcoal drawing on vellum, was selected for the Third Annual Drawing and Painting Exhibition, which ended in December at Lore Degenstein
Gallery, Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. This is a national visual art competition and
exhibition of contemporary, figurative, painting, drawing and printmaking. Finally, his Composition #1, a small abstract of found and
stained papers, is viewable online as part of The National Collage Society's
27th Annual Juried Exhibit. His artwork was selected from 149
collages and assemblages from nearly 400 national and international
