The Shadow of the Wind 'One Book' Fall Events Announced

The "One Book, One Community" program will feature several October and November events related to this year's selection, The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

A free zumba Latin dance class for adults, along with a youth activity, are scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the Marquette YMCA. The evening's activities will continue at 7 p.m. with a showing of the movie Carol's Journey at the Peter White Public Library. From Oct. 20-26, a “Cemetery of Not-to-Be-Forgotten Books” display will be set up on the NMU academic mall.

November activities include a "Dinner by Artists" fundraiser for Oasis Gallery, with a Spanish theme, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Tickets are available at Snowbound Books. On Nov. 10, Spanish foods will be served by Capers Restaurant in the Landmark Inn at 6 p.m., followed by a "Books in Translation" presentation by Tim Compton (Modern Languages and Literatures) at 8 p.m.
