Student Greeting Card Project Under Way

The NMU chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) is offering a new line of greeting cards that showcases the creativity of NMU students. The project was launched in fall 2006 as a fundraiser to support AMA activities, with purchases made through student sales representatives. This year, the NMU Bookstore will also stock and sell the cards.

d“It's nice to have the bookstore involved because people will be able to either pick them up at the University Center or order them with a credit card online through the store's Web site," said Steve Bicek, a senior marketing major from Downers Grove, Ill. “Because we’re going through the bookstore, the profits will be split between AMA and other student organizations. We’ll see a profit upfront when we sell them to the bookstore at wholesale cost. Profits from the sales at the store will help support student travel for other campus organizations.”

dThe four greeting card designs were selected from 40 entries submitted in a contest open to all NMU students. The winners included a “Season’s Greetings” holiday card, a “thank you” card with NMU lettering, and two blank note cards – one featuring a green paw print; the other, green and gold brush strokes. The back of each card features the name of the designer, the NMU logo and a project overview. Students who designed the winning cards received $25 VISA gift cards through TCF Bank.

dA set of 24 holiday cards with a standard greeting costs $30. Personalized versions are available starting at $87 for the minimum order of three sets. The three notecard designs are featured in a pack of 12 for $15.

The greeting cards will be available for purchase in the NMU Bookstore beginning Nov. 5. For more information on the project and to see the full-color designs, visit www.nmu.edu/greetingcards.
