National Student Employment Week April 9-15

In order to recognize the efforts of student employees in higher education, the National Student Employment Association designates the second full week of every April as National Student Employment Week.  It’s celebrated by campuses across the nation, and John Frick (JOBSearch Center) said that it’s important for NMU to celebrate it as well.

“Student employees at NMU provide an important service to a wide variety of constituents. The work they do assists faculty, staff, other students, parents, alumni, administrators, executives, etc,” he said. “Their work touches almost every facet of campus life. We could not do what we do without the help of our student employees and I think it’s only fitting that we recognize the work that they do.”

The JOBSearch website contains a list of suggestions that employers can do to recognize their student workers, such as creating computerized certificates, decorating a bulletin board in their honor, treating them to lunch, or giving them gift certificates for on-campus or off-campus use. More suggestions are available at Student Employee Week.
