Thompson Reelected AMU President

Rebecca Thompson, a senior marketing major from Detroit, has been elected to a second term as chair of the Association of Michigan Universities (AMU). She will represent each of Michigan’s 15 public universities and work with legislators in Lansing on issues and concerns facing college students.

"I was interested in running for reelection because in order for AMU to grow successfully, there needs to be continuity among the leadership,” said Thompson. “I am excited that the members had enough confidence in me to allow me to work for and with them for another year.”

AMU was founded in 2001 and has four major purposes: to advocate the social welfare of current and future public education students in the state of Michigan; encourage and foster leadership development for students at all stages of education; promote interest in government; and increase and maintain awareness of public policy.
