Staff Recognition Programs Announced

NMU President Les Wong recently approved two employee recognition programs. The Excellence-in-Service Award will honor individuals from AFSCME, Clerical/Technical, Administrative Professional, and Non-Represented staff groups whose efforts go beyond daily duties. Up to two individuals per employee group may be recognized each year. Winners will receive a $1,000 check and a plaque.

The Distinguished Team Award will recognize university work teams that demonstrate exemplary performance to achieve a task that furthers Northern’s mission and/or goals. Teams, whether formally or informally assembled, may contain students, but staff/faculty must comprise the majority. Winners will receive a dinner voucher and a certificate.

Winners for both awards will be recognized at an annual April ceremony. Nominations are due by Friday, Feb. 10. Forms are available online at Excellence in Service or Distinguished Team. Art Pickering (Human Resources) said the award policies were developed and submitted for approval by a joint group comprised of representatives of the relevant employee groups.
