Human Resources Surveys Employees

Human Resources is requesting that NMU faculty and staff participate in an anonymous survey to help evaluate the department's effectiveness beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1. An e-mail with a link to the survey will be sent directly to employee e-mail boxes.

“Human Resources is charged with serving the needs of all of Northern's 1,100 faculty and staff employees, as well as the 1,800 student employees. Those nearly 3,000 people are our customers, and maintaining a consistent and effective level of customer service is a must,” said Art Pickering (Human Resources).

The online survey is anonymous and will take about 10 minutes to complete, according to Pickering, who added that he hopes to have a high rate of return from all areas of the campus for the most accurate representation of issues. Once a participant completes the survey, the data will be sent to a Web-based collection system that automatically strips the person’s e-mail address from the response.

“Human Resources will not know who has filled out the survey and who hasn’t, or who has made what comments,” said Pickering. “Our goal is to review all of the comments and look for trends that point to areas where we can improve. Doing so helps the university overall improve.”

The deadline to participate in the survey is Friday, Feb. 17.
