Last Call for United Way Pledges

Northern has realized 80 percent of its 2005 United Way campaign goal with pledges of $28,000 turned in as of Monday, Nov. 7. NMU’s goal for this year is $35,000.

Ken Godfrey (Athletics and Recreational Sports), co-coordinator of the workplace campaign, encourages any NMU faculty and staff members who had planned to make a donation but haven’t yet done so to return their completed forms as soon as possible.

“We didn’t have an opportunity to meet with the NMU retiree group until just recently, so those contributions are still coming in, but we’re preparing to start closing out the paperwork on this over the next few days,” said Godfrey.

NMU President Les Wong, the other NMU site coordinator, said he is pleased by the university’s effort, but adds that he hopes that goal can be met.

“We knew it was an ambitious goal going in, but we are close, oh so close.  If you have not made a contribution, I hope you will take a minute to consider how important the services the United Way agencies provide are to some of our students, colleagues and neighbors. The need is great and your gift makes a difference,” said Wong.

Contact Athletics at ext. 2105 to request additional or replacement pledge forms.
