David Carlson (Political Science and Public Admininistration) presented a paper titled "City Management and Politics" at the Michigan Conference of Political Scientists, Oct. 20-21.

William Knox (English) presented his paper, "Stephen Dunning: A Celebration of a Mentor," at the Michigan Council of Teachers of English annual conference Oct. 3 in Lansing. Dunning was a longtime director of the doctoral program in English and education at the University of Michigan. He exercised profound influence on generations of students before his passing last spring. Knox's talk combined recollections and analysis from his time as a doctoral student in the 1980s of Dunning's "professional and personal magic."

Z.Z. Lehmberg and Elisa Neckar (English) gave a poster presentation titled "Online Tutoring: Meeting Institutional Demands and Pedagogical Concerns" at the 2nd Joint Conference of the International Writing Centers Association and the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing in Minneapolis.

Kate Mueller (English) presented "The Unintentional Fallacy of Writing Courses" Oct. 9 at the University of Denver's Attention/Inattention: Graduate Critique and Creativity Conference.
