Library
Adds Electronic Resources
Olson
Library has expanded access to scholarly electronic resources in
order to meet the needs of the TLC laptop initiative. Over the past
few months, the library has added approximately 1,500 electronic
journals from four publishers and more than 1,000 full-text newspapers.
“In
making collection decisions, electronic journals are always selected
over their print equivalents if they cost the same or less,” said
Kevin McDonough (Academic Information Services).
“As a result, our e-journal holdings will increase as the number
of print subscriptions declines.”
The
new databases with the electronic journals and newspapers are: Project
Muse, featuring 259 journals in the humanities, arts and social
sciences; Oxford University Press, offering 165 journals in life
sciences, medicine, physical sciences, humanities, social sciences
and law; Westlaw Campus, with approximately 850 legal journals and
law reviews, along with key state and federal legal sources; Wiley
Interscience, featuring 320 journals in the sciences and social
sciences; and Access World News, with 600 national newspapers and
500 international sources.
