IBM Sale Will Have No Immediate Impact on NMU

IBM’s decision to sell its personal computing division to Lenovo, China ’s number one PC company, will not have an immediate impact on NMU’s ThinkPad program.

“Upon the completion of the sale, IBM and the new Lenovo are committed to work together as one integrated team to meet NMU’s needs,” said Gavin Leach (Finance and Planning).

The IBM team that NMU has worked with will remain intact under the leadership of the new company. In addition, IBM will continue to be responsible for promoting PCs at NMU and they will be “the preferred supplier of service and support for the ThinkPad notebook computers,” Leach said. “We do not expect any changes for at least two years, but as we always have, we will continue to review the quality, support and service that NMU receives from the company."
