Feedback
on UC Requested
Faculty,
staff and students are invited to complete a survey related to the
facilities and services of the Don H. Bottum University Center.
The information will assess the current operation and offer direction
for a five-year plan.
As
Andy Wasilewski (Auxiliary Services) explained
at the forum, the survey was developed by Porter Consulting Worldwide
Inc., a nationally recognized independent consulting firm that specializes
in the higher education market.
Wasilewski
said the University Center was built in the '60s and had one renovation
in 1994. He said the consulting firm will help explore potential
new uses and opportunities, as well as address issues that have
prevented the facility from maximizing its ability to host more
campus and community events.
"Parking
has been a perennial problem that reduces the potential for walk-in
traffic," Wasilewski said. "The maximum seating capacity
in the UC is 550, but some entities have expressed a desire to host
even larger events. Should the building have a ballroom with higher
ceilings that could accommodate 1,000 people? These are some of
the things we're looking at."
As
an added incentive, those who offer feedback will be eligible for
one of the following: an Apple iPod; a portable DVD player; or one
of five $10 Starbucks gift cards. Winners will be notified via e-mail.
The
survey must be submitted by Monday, Dec. 6. It is available at University
Center Survey.
