The research poster,
Caring for Adoptive Families: The Importance of What you Say, presented
by Eileen Smit and Terry Delpier (Nursing),
received the first-place research poster award at the Pediatric
Nursing 20th Annual Conference Sept. 10-12 in Orlando. The presentation
described the experiences of families during the hospitalization
of their adopted children, based on research by Smit and Delpier.
Don
Faust (Mathematics and Computer Science) gave invited lectures
on "Logics for Artificial Intelligence" at four universities
and robotics presentations at seven high schools in Malaysia in
June and July. He also presented the paper “New Logical Constructs
to Better Represent our Evidential Knowledge” at the East-West Center
International Conference on New Challenges for Building an Asia-Pacific
Community in Japan in early August.
Beverly
Matherne (English) gave a solo blues
performance in French at the Council on International Francophone
Studies in Liege, Belgium. She also was this year's poet-in-residence
at the Loon Lake Poetry Festival in
Cochocton, NY, and a featured reader at Rustbelt Roethke Writer's
Conference at Saginaw Valley State University.
