New
Faculty Positions Filled
In
continuing its commitment to academic quality, even in tight budget
times, NMU created 10 new faculty positions for the 2004-05 academic
year.
“We
are pleased to welcome them to our NMU family,” said NMU
President Les Wong. “The 10 new faculty positions
that were added this year will help tremendously in keeping our
class size down despite our growing enrollment. Mike
Roy (Finance and Administration), in his interim president
role last year, and Provost Fred Joyal (Academic
Affairs) took a brave step in creating those new positions in light
of the unstable state appropriations situation, and they should
be applauded for their continued commitment to creating the best
NMU student learning experience.”
Including
the 10 additional positions, a total of 26 new faculty were hired
this year, as well as 16 new adjuncts and 37 new graduate assistants
(as of July 1).
