Network Acceptable Use Policy Revised
on a recommendation by the NMU President’s Council, the Computer
Network Acceptable Use Policy, which is a guide to the appropriate
use of network and computing resources, has been updated and revised.
policy defines users and addresses issues including privacy, system
integrity, laws, student code and disciplinary actions.
example, users should not share their user ID and password with
other persons, and the system cannot be used to harass the NMU community
with “chain letters,” “spam” or “broadcast” messages.
policy refers to other NMU policies, as well as state and federal
laws that are already in place at NMU. “It was rewritten to simplify
it,” said Dave Maki (AdIT). “The other thing was
to define what a user of the network is.”
