Goodrich
Leads Honors Program
Robbie
Goodrich (History)
is the new director of the NMU Honors Program, which is entering
its seventh year. His responsibilities will include recruiting
students to the program and advising them; teaching at least one
core honors course each year and recruiting other faculty to assist
in the program; making recommendations to the Honors Board; representing
the program to the university administration and at meetings of
honors program representatives in the state, region and nation;
and coordinating honors courses, activities and scholarship opportunities.
“My
academic career, especially at NMU, has placed honors programming
at its heart,” said Goodrich. “I have sat on the Honors Board
since coming to NMU, have taught
honors courses, and am the faculty advisor for Phi Alpha Theta,
the history honor society. I think my experience in honors programming,
my commitment to its success and value for NMU students and my ideas
to enhance the program helped to instill the Honors Board
with confidence in my ability
to follow up on Bill Knox's successful tenure as director.”
