Parking
Update
Reconstruction of Northern
Michigan University’s parking lot 28 as part of the East campus
renovation project began Monday. Lot 28 is located between the Student
Services Center and the Learning Resources Center. It will be unavailable
for use until July 23.
During the construction
period, Lot 25, which runs alongside the McClintock Building will
be taken over as a staging area for the construction crews. Current
users of Lot 25 may park in Lot 39, located directly behind the
Thomas Fine Arts Building on Fair Avenue, or in Lot 17, located
in front of Whitman Hall.
When Lot 28 construction
is done, work will begin on Lot 62 and that lot will then be closed
until Sept. 30. Lot 62 is located between the Student Services Center
and Thomas Fine Arts.
When construction is completed, Lots 28 and 62 will provide additional
parking for employees and students using the Student Services Center.
New additions to the area adjacent to those parking lots will be
a pedestrian corridor extending from the academic mall to Seventh
Street, new lighting and extensive landscaping.
