Neil
Cumberlidge (Biology)
has written a book chapter on the freshwater crabs of Madagascar
, a “zoologically unique island
that is home to some of the world’s most interesting and threatened
organisms.” It appears in The Natural History of Madagascar.
Cumberlidge was invited to contribute the section after he
published a major new taxonomic revision of the crabs. His co-author
was Richard Sternberg of the National Museum of Natural History
at the Smithsonian Institution. Cumberlidge has acquired more than
100 specimens from Madagascar
on loan from the Field Museum
of Natural History in Chicago

An
article by Kia Jane Richmond (English) titled,
“Sharing the Journey: New Teachers in Michigan Reflect on Their
Experiences,” was published in the Language Arts Journal of
Michigan . Richmond
interviewed several new English teachers for the article, including
NMU alumna Margaret (Eppinga) Fierstine.
