Our December, 2005, concert featured three settings of the Magnificat, the "My soul doth magnify the Lord ..." response of Saint Mary when the angel announced to her that she was to become the mother of the savior of humanity. This text has been a favorite of composers and audiences for hundreds of years.

The Marquette Choral Society sang the words in settings by Vivaldi, Monteverdi, and Rutter. They were accompanied by a small orchestra.

The performances were held in Marquette's Saint Peter Cathedral. The first was at 7:30 PM on Saturday, December 3, and the second at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 4.
