This semester we are performing music by Eric Whitacre, including a piece called “The Sacred Veil.” This is a long form work accompanied by piano and cello which tells the story of Tony and Julia Silvestri’s meeting, marriage, and Julia’s diagnosis and struggle with cancer. The lyrics are written by Tony and Julia, told in their own words. This is a beautiful and powerful piece about a difficult subject. The Choral Society plans to partner with local agencies that provide support and assistance to families dealing with cancer.
